I’m not very good with computers. Television was the new thing when I was growing up. I still remember the thrill of our first “color” teevee. The skin tones were kind of green but we didn’t care, it was in color! From there to here was a long journey and the truth is that most 10 year olds know more about computers than I do. Why wouldn’t they? Most of them were born with a cell phone in one hand and a mouse in the other.
I’m concerned because I know that I don’t have the tech skills to keep my computer from being hacked. Not having the “tech” skills to prevent that I must rely on my “firewalls” knowing that against a skillful hacker they’re useless. That’s a reality most of us would rather not think about as the words “Identity Theft” bounce around our brains.
You would think our government as big and powerful as ours would be better at containing hackers. Seems not so much. The world’s only Super Power is apparently as helpless against hackers as this little old lady in SE Wisconsin. That should scare the crap out of everyone. It should be enough to make everyone take the cell phone out of their ear and their thumb out of their ass and insist those useless parvenus DO SOMETHING about this. Like maybe hire someone who knows something not just people who follow their particular political doctrine. We got to where we are because those in power, and most of those that vote for them, care nothing about competence and everything about agenda.
Even if you aren’t “political” and don’t follow politics the words – government – data – hacked – should set your hair on fire and send your concern meter into the red. Without cyber security there is NO security!
While Chinese, Russian, Iranian or who knows what foreign hacker sifts through government data, seemingly at will, our “leaders” are focused on the removal of the Confederate Flag from everywhere. Gotta keep them priorities straight. This is like a bad, really bad movie script except they wouldn’t make such a movie because no one would believe it.
The president’s spokesweasel, Josh Earnest admitted that he was hacked but refused to say who else in the White House had been a victim. Get that? In the White House! And our feckless CiC flew off to fund raise. And media kept it’s focus on who was and was not insisting on removing the Confederate Flag from everywhere. You cannot make up such stupidity.

We can’t just pretend it never existed, it’s part of our history. If some find that history offensive that’s too damn bad. Much of history is offensive but that doesn’t mean we get to pretend it never happened. WTF?
While we refight the Civil War, or fight the Confederate Flag, the rest of the world is fighting the battles of today not the battle of 150 years ago. Media refuses to do its job of informing the public. Even that would do little good if most of our citizens are too ignorant to understand the dangers this country is facing. Other than the Confederate Flag that is. God knows that poses an imminent danger.

Meanwhile the Doofus in the Oval Office climbed aboard Air Force one and went off to fund raise. Come rain, come hail come dark of night nothing will stop Doofus from fund raising and golf. This is leadership? 
Left, right or somewhere in between this country needs you to pay attention and force the idiots we elected to do their damn jobs. Don’t count on the media to help because they are part of the problem. The only hope is for an engaged, enraged and informed citizenry. We know that’s at best a forlorn hope.
If it can’t be “tweeted” or isn’t “liked” on Facebook what good is it? Despair seems an inadequate word.
