Listening to Barack Obama’s account today of the “success” of U.S. policy in combatting ISIS/ISIL in Syria and Iraq left me with but one, simple question–what mind altering substance is he on? His account is flat out delusional and totally out of touch with reality, not to mention devoid of logic.
Where to start? He rattled off the tally the bombing runs in Iraq and Syria:
As he has said, “If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.” As of today, we’ve launched more than 5,000 airstrikes against ISIL.
And what have those airstrikes achieved? The recapture of Ramadi? Nope. The retaking of Fallujah? Nope. Halting the arrival of new recruits eager to get their jihad on? Nope.

This broader challenge of countering violent extremism is not simply a military effort. Ideologies are not defeated with guns, they are defeated by better ideas and more attractive and more compelling vision. So the United States will continue to do our part by continuing to counter ISIL’s hateful propaganda, especially online. We’ll constantly reaffirm through words and deeds that we will never be at war with Islam. We are fighting terrorists who distort islam and its victims are mostly Muslims.
Bullshit! The Soviets defeated the Nazis because of “better ideas and more attractive and more compelling vision?” I don’t think so. We beat the Nazis in large part because the Soviets killed so many and weakened Hitler’s forces in the West. It was not our “attractive, compelling vision.” And Japan. Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki brought Japan to its knees.
Never fear. Obama is going to use social media to beat those Sunni Islamic fanatics. That should do it. And if Obama enjoys the same success that his twitter campaign “achieved” in freeing the Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram (another group that has affiliated with ISIS/ISIL) then we are totally screwed.
How about the rest of Obama’s grand strategy to give ISIS a hug?
2. Increased support to forces fighting ISIL on the ground
The U.S. has sent a small contingent of service members to support Iraqi forces, including Kurdish fighters, with training, intelligence, and equipment. These American forces do not have a combat mission, but are providing the support needed for Iraqi forces to go on the offense. In Syria, we have ramped up our military assistance to the Syrian opposition, while pursuing the political solution necessary to solve Syria’s crisis once and for all.
The training of the Iraqi Army is a bust. And the Government of Syria’s Bashir Assad is fighting ISIS/ISIL tooth and nail. Yet, Obama won’t back him (the Russians do, thank Allah).
3. Drawing on our substantial counterterrorism capabilities to prevent ISIL attacks
Working with our partners, we are redoubling our efforts to cut off ISIL’s funding, improve our intelligence, strengthen our defenses, counter ISIL’s warped ideology, and stem the flow of foreign fighters into and out of the Middle East.
Gee whiz. Who thought “duck and cover” would come back as an offensive technique to vanquish an enemy. Reminds me of the drills we who are 60 and over endured in grade school as part of the “plan” to protect ourselves from a nuclear bomb. A totally useless technique.
And last but not least:
4. Providing humanitarian assistance to innocent civilians displaced by ISIL
We cannot allow innocent communities to be driven from their homelands. The U.S. continues to provide much-needed assistance to Sunni and Shia Muslims who are at grave risk, as well as tens of thousands of Christians and other religious minorities.
Boy. That there is a sure-fired measure to send ISIS/ISIL fighters fleeing in terror. Right?
As you can see, Obama’s plan is empty, delusional posturing. No real power to take on and defeat Islamic extremists.
What about ass fucking? Yes. You read that right. An Obama supporter (and it would appear that Obama himself shares this same insanity) offered up his vision in the pages of Foreign Policy for beating ISIS/ISIL:
The second set of images shows another crowd, thousands of miles away from the first. This crowd is full of men and women, all ages and all races, and they’re waving American flags and rainbow-colored flags. This crowd isn’t flanked by gunmen; no one looks frightened or enraged. This crowd is laughing and embracing; a few people are weeping, their faces lit with relief and joy. I know which crowd I’d rather be in.
Do you want to fight the Islamic State and the forces of Islamic extremist terrorism? I’ll tell you the best way to send a message to those masked gunmen in Iraq and Syria and to everyone else who gains power by sowing violence and fear. Just keep posting that second set of images. Post them on Facebook and Twitter and Reddit and in comments all over the Internet. Send them to your friends and your family. Send them to your pen pal in France and your old roommate in Tunisia. Send them to strangers.
Yes, it’s sappy. But this has always been the dream of America: a dream of freedom, of a land where no one would force their religious beliefs on anyone else. A land where all people would have the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A land where we could seek change peacefully and trust our laws and institutions to respond to our deepest hopes.
Yep. Rainbow flags and men kissing men passionately will cause ISIS/ISIL to crumble. Do you buy this nonsense? So, what hallucinogen was Obama on today?
